LUCKNOW: In a crackdown on those involved in food adulteration around Holi, a local court on Saturday held a milkman guilty of selling adulterated milk and sentenced him to one-year imprisonment under the Food Adulteration Act. Court also imposed Rs 1,000 fine on the milkman.

Milkman Munna Lal was running dairy business at Tarikhana in Mohibullapur area supplying milk to several customers. On a complaint of adulterated milk sale, food inspector K P Singh had conducted a raid on his dairy way back on May 5,1999. The officer collected milk sample from the dairy and sent it for laboratory examination.

The lab examination showed the milk sample adulterated with harmful material. A report was lodged against Munna Lal.
