MANSA: The district police on Tuesday evening seized 1,400 litre adulterated milk and arrested two persons in this connection. The milk was allegedly being supplied to vendors in Bathinda.

Station house officer (SHO) Dalbir Singh said the accused, identified as Puneet Kumar and Satpal Singh, were arrested around 4.30 pm after the police received information that adulterated milk was being transported from a local dairy to Maur area of Bathinda.

“Puneet Kumar owns a dairy where the milk was adulterated after which it was collected by Satpal Singh, who used to supply it to vendors in Bathinda. On a tip-off, we put up a ‘naka’ at Budhlada where a truck carrying the adulterated milk was detected.”

The police said that the milk was yet to be tested, though a case was registered after obtaining the opinion of district health officer (DHO) Mohan Singh. “The DHO was also part of the team that arrested the accused,” said Dalbir Singh.

The case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the Food Safety And Standards Act, said Dalbir Singh.
