MUMBAI: The Consumer Guidance Society of India (CGSI) tested 16 samples of milk at Juhu Sunday and found all of them were adulterated. Each was way below the mandatory quality level.

Dr Sitaram Dixit, chairman of the consumer body, conducted the test.

The test was done alongside Sunday's walkathon in Juhu that saw around 2,000 participants. The programme commemorated the golden jubilee celebrations of CGSI.

The walkathon raised awareness about consumer empowerment and wellness. Teenagers and senior citizens alike walked a distance of 5 km as onlookers cheered. Participants received certificates, caps, prizes and a finally tested their fortunes at a lucky draw.

The Juhu Beach Walkers Group and Rotary Club of Juhu were event partners.

CGSI's Dr M S Kamath said, "This walkathon is a unique event to have taken place along Juhu Beach. We are also planning to organise a 'Chai Pe Charcha' shortly. Such programmes prompt consumers to exercise their rights."

Shantilal Gulecha, secretary of the Juhu Walkers Group, and Chetan Shah, former president of Lions Club of Juhu, along with office bearers of CGSI attended.
