Saturday, 13/09/2014

Sources said that the Aavin officials were confronted with lapses in the procedure of procuring and transporting the milk from various milk producing farmers’ societies and individuals to the respective unions without paving way for adulteration, as found out in the recent case reported near Tindivanam.

Aavin officials had a tough time explaining  how they are ensuring the safety of milk procured during transit.

The gang which was busted by the Villupuram Police were found stealing milk to the tune of 1,800 litres from a 12,000 litre tanker, by tearing off the seal and putting it back after mixing equivalent amount of water into the tanker. As many as nine persons were arrested in this scam, which had been going on for some time, according to the locals.

Subsequently, the case was transferred to CBCID which had been carrying out a series of raids across the production units for the quality of milk.
