Gurgaon: The health department on Wednesday collected samples of milk distributed by a dairy brand for testing after a resident lodged a complaint saying she got adulterated milk. The samples, collected after a raid in Sector 40, were sent to Chandigarh for tests.

According to sources, a woman approached the chief medical officer saying she purchased six litres of milk belonging to a Gujarat-based dairy. She had checked the expiry date yet it tasted strange. Her daughter too complained of the taste and the child fell sick after consuming it. She was taken to the hospital.

The woman raised the issue with the shopkeeper and did not get a satisfactory answer. She then approached the CMO. Taking immediate action, the CMO directed the Food Safety Officer to investigate the matter. "Action will be taken on the basis of the lab report which is expected by month-end," Food Safety Officer N D Sharma said.
