New Delhi: A day after the reports on adulterated milk being supplied in the national capital came to light, the Delhi High Court issued notices to the central and the Delhi government seeking their reply on the same.

Taking the media reports into cognizance, a bench of acting Chief Justice AK Sikri and Rajiv Sahai Endlaw demanded an immediate response from the Central and Delhi government.

Also, the bench has directed the Delhi government's Department of Prevention of Food Adulteration (PFA) and the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to submit their replies by January 25.

According to media reports, 70 percent of the collected samples were found to be contaminated with glucose and milk powder, 69 percent of the samples were contaminated with detergent, urea, water etc. The test samples were collected in urban areas. Tests were conducted on both processed milk and open milk available at outlets.

Delhi government on Tuesday rubbished the reports of milk adulteration.
